SEO is Not a One Time Thing and Done
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009I won’t tell you where i read the article just now, bur it was 3 years old. Even so, back then the author was full of him or herself. The gist of the article was, that unlike PPC where you had to constantly monitor and adjust, organic SEO was a one-time effort and done.
That’s like saying you only need to fillup the gas tank in your car once – once it starts, it;s off to the races and you never need more gas.
SEO for organic search results is in very basic terms, a 5 phase process;
Phase I
Information Gathering – Research
Phase II
Keyword Research
Phase III
SEO Strategy Development
Phase IV
SEO Strategy Implementation
Phase V
Maintenance
It is in this last phase where you track your successes and failures and tune your strategy to maintain optimal performance of your targeted keyword phrases. This is where you can tell if you earned your money.
This maintenance is such an integral part of the overall success that I do not take on a new client without a minimum 6 month agreement to do maintenance. And I make it easy on them by NOT charging an arm-and-a-leg for the service.
