Relevant SEO Strategies
Over the years a lot has changed with regard to the emphasis the search engines have placed on a variety of onsite and offsite factors which affect website rankings in the search engine results such as on-page content.
Since the algorithms that the search engine's use to index pages are closely guarded secrets, for the most part, SEO professionals have had to rely on trial and error, to prove any hypotheses that may be in the "rumor mill.
More recently a few of the search engines have been willing to share, in not so specific terms, what it takes to rank well, or the opposite - how to get your site banned or de-listed. |

Relevant SEO Content
SEO relevance has 3 main players; (1) the search engine, (2) the person searching and (3) your website.
The person doing the searching is the customer, for both the search engine and you. Relevance to the searcher can be many things; location, size color, make, model, warranty, and on and on. Don't want to know what is involved, just rather have an SEO Pro do it for you? Call me.
Making SEO Strategies Relevant
Relevance comes into play at the very beginning of your website strategy, or at least it should. If you already have a site and have had it for some years, it is not too late to apply the practice of relevance.
What is relevant to one business is not relevant to another, even if they are in the same industry. How can that be? Well there are many things that distinguish one from the other and consequently one thing may be more relevant to one site than the other.
For the search engines, relevance is used to distinguish or differentiate in the search engine results. For example, if you entered, "big blue bricks" as your search term, the search engine has indexed sites and where they will rank for, "big" "blue" "bricks," and "big blue bricks" and every combination thereof.
The business of the search engine is to provide results to the user based on the relevance of the search terms used.
The most relevant ranking first and the least ranking last. You will see on the results page just how many pages were indexed with one or more of all the words used in the search. It is a little different when you do a Boolean Search using quotes around your term because then you are telling the search engine that you are only search for those exact words in exactly that order.
So being the most relevant for the terms searched is the success story. (well, that and popularity)
The trick is being able to discern what the search engines deem as important to gauge relevance and marrying that to what the searcher is looking for - No, I can't read minds nor do I have a crystal ball, but sometimes it may seem like I do.
Relevancy is definitely one of the major keys to success in terms of organic SEO.
